Charles A. Pelowski
Charles was born in San Angelo, Texas and grew up in Abilene, Texas. He attended college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he earned a degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology and graduated with honors. Three days after graduating from college, Charles enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard and shipped off to basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The leadership, discipline, and attention to detail he learned during his time in the National Guard continue to benefit him and his clients to this day.
In 2006, Charles was accepted to attend Texas Tech University’s School of Law. During law school, Charles was a member of several nationally recognized advocacy-competition teams, winning both a regional title in mock trial and a national title in moot court. Charles was a member of the Board of Barristers and served as Director of Demonstrations during his third year. Charles was selected to become a member of the National Order of Barristers based on his outstanding achievements. Charles was also a member of the Texas Tech Law Review, where he served as an articles editor for two years. Additionally, he earned a place in the Texas Tech Criminal Defense Clinic as one of only 8 students selected in 2009.
After graduating from law school, Charles accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender at the Bowie County Public Defender’s Office in Texarkana, Texas. While there, he handled hundreds of criminal cases and represented indigent defendants accused of crimes from simple misdemeanors to first-degree felonies. Charles was also the Assistant Chief Public Defender at the Caprock Regional Public Defender Office. While at the Caprock office, Charles supervised, taught, and mentored third-year law students, as well as maintained a full caseload of his own and successfully handled several jury trials and appeals, obtaining excellent results for his clients.
Since accepting a position with Scott M. Brown & Associates in 2013, Charles focuses primarily on family law cases including child support, divorce, modifications, child custody, enforcement actions, high net value divorce, and suits involving the parent-child relationship as well as criminal defense cases. Charles has a passion for both family law and criminal defense cases, and his tutelage under Scott M. Brown has been invaluable in becoming a zealous advocate for his clients both inside and outside the courtroom. Like Scott M. Brown, Charles is committed to the firm’s vision of giving the client the best legal representation possible. Charles believes that due to the personal nature of family law and criminal defense, his clients should be involved throughout the legal process. He strives to ensure his clients are engaged, knowledgeable, and comfortable. He understands that clients seeking his advice are often going through difficult times.
