People who are the victims of domestic violence often live in fear of their life. Situations that involve domestic violence can often escalate quickly. In some cases, serious injuries or death can occur when someone is the victim of domestic violence. Sadly for one Texas woman, domestic violence claimed her life and the life of her unborn child.
According to police officers, the 27-year-old woman and 26-year-old man had been dating for around a year. The couple bought an apartment. Both of them had a history of domestic violence. The man was a suspect in a 2011 domestic violence case involving a former girlfriend. The woman who was killed was charged with causing bodily injury to the man in February.
The woman was seven months pregnant, which was reportedly a stressor for the couple. She was found with stab wounds in the center of her stomach and her chin. She also had defensive wounds on both hands, according to the affidavit.
Her boyfriend was arrested in Louisiana and will be extradited back to Bedford. He faces a capital murder charge in relation to the woman’s death. His mother says that his friends told her the victim made him miserable, but that he was trying to do right by her since she was pregnant with his baby. His mother says he loved the woman.
This case shows just how dangerous domestic violence can be. Anyone who is in a situation where domestic violence is present should seek protection. Understanding the legal options offered in Texas might help in making a decision about how to seek protection.
